In the US and Canada there are approximately 2 million AA members.
There are about 29 million still suffering. What is our message to those in
need? Know that the message comes from us.
Our East Central Regional Trustee, Cathi C., said, “I hope you will see
in me and my service, a reflection of what AA has done for me in my
life.” This can be applied to all of us.
As a member of the Conference Committee on Literature I hear
questions like: Is our literature effective? Is it clear, concise, complete?
Will the reader find hope and recovery? Ask the receiver, “Do you
understand this stuff?”
Let us all work together to improve AA as a whole. Let us all demonstrate
by our actions what AA has done for us. Attend our Mini-Conference. Express your voice and cast your vote about
what you think should be addressed this year. I will carry the “conscience” of Area 56 with me to the 75th General Service
Conference. All of us there strive to make AA a better organization in reaching out to those 29 million still suffering
alcoholics.
Go to aaarea56.org to register for our 42nd Annual Mini-Conference where you’ll learn about, discuss, and vote on the
current agenda items, hear from our ECR Trustee, Cathi C., get an idea of what goes on at AA World Services from Vera F.,
Non-Trustee Director of AAWS. Visit aa.org to see videos, listen to podcasts, and keep up-to-date in the ‘What’s New’
section.
So, dive into AA, make a splash, send a message to some of the 29 million still suffering alcoholics that you are here and are willing to
help! Service is where the fun starts!
